In partnership with the Tennessee Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the District Court hosts a Teachers Law School program designed for middle and high school educators interested in civics and law-related topics. The Teacher Law School sessions provide teachers with civics and law-related educational content to take back to their classrooms to help students better understand and appreciate the value, relevance, and impact of the Constitution, the judicial system, and civic engagement.
Examples of topics from previous programs include Separation of Powers and Judicial Independence, the 4th Amendment in Schools, Social Media in Schools: Testing the 1st Amendment in the Digital Age, and Constitutional Issues and Rights of Students and Teachers.
