TECHNOLOGY IN THE COURTROOM
Judge Samuel H. Mays, Jr., 11th Floor Courtroom 2

QuickStart ; Memphis Courtroom AV system. Jan 2003

1. Turn on the power switch for the Document Camera, VCR and Cassette Deck. Turn on the power to all monitors in the courtroom. If one fails to power-up, make sure the AC plug is properly inserted into the floor jack.

2. Touch the AMX panel. The main page screen will appear.

3. The row of buttons along the bottom of this screen select the source of audio and video. The Judge and court room deputy have complete control over all audio presented in the courtroom, from a private control located on the bench. All participants are reminded to speak into a microphone when addressing the court.

4. When VCR, Doc Camera or Cassette Deck is selected, a window outlining the basic functions of these devices will appear. When any of the 3 computer inputs is selected, that PC output appears on all monitor screens in the courtroom.

5. The volume control located on the left side of the AMX screen will control the volume of the VCR, cassette deck, and in some cases the PC. Other types of audio media can be played, with advance notice, so that we may prepare the necessary inputs. Hearing impaired assistance and telephone interpretation are also available.

6.The Elotouch monitors located at the witness stand and next to the document camera can be drawn on with fingertip or fingernail. Do not use pen or pencil. Drawing on these monitors will overlay that mark on the PC, video or document image and appear on all monitors. Touching the color button in the lower left hand corner will change the color of the mark. Touching the erase button in the lower right corner of the monitor will erase all marks.

7. The Panasonic Video Printer will print a picture of VCR and Camera images that appear on the courtroom monitors. ( It will not include any overlay marks made on the touch screens.) To print:

* Turn power on.

*Push video print monitor button on touchpanel. (Upper left)

*Push memory, then print, button on printer. It takes about 60 seconds to print. After printing push the one shot erase button. This will return the printer to a ready state. If the printer will not be used again, please power it off.

8. We urge all participants to call in advance with special AV needs. We can assist you and arrange for demonstrations of the equipment at 901-495-1350.
